Composition: Five elected members.
Duties: Employ a competent and qualified Librarian; Determine the purpose of the library and adopt written policies to govern the operation and program of the Library; Determine the program and needs of the Library in relation to the community; Keep abreast of standards and Library trends; Secure adequate funds to carry on Library programs; Establish support and participate in a planned public relations program; Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and approve the final document; Know local and state laws and to actively support Library policies including those dealing with books and materials selection; Attend all board meetings and see that accurate records are kept on file; Attend regional, state and national trustee meetings and workshop, and to affiliate with the appropriate
professional organizations; Be aware of the services of the State Library; Report regularly to the Town Council and general public.

Section 4.8
Manage the Town Library and all property of the Town Library; control expenditures of funds received from the Town appropriation, fines, gifts and copying charges; and, appoint and remove with due process the Librarian and other Library staff.
