Marriage License

PLEASE READ ENTIRE SECTION BEFORE APPEARING FOR APPLICATION

To obtain a marriage license in the State of New Hampshire, both persons must be present with a valid government issued photo ID (driver's license or passport). BIRTH CERTIFICATES FOR BOTH PARTIES ARE PREFERRED. The license application requires information about you, your parents, lineage, education, and intention of name change. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS.

If either member of the party has been previously married, the person MUST present the original certified legal copy of the document showing how the previous marriage ended (divorce / dissolution decree, death certificate). Photocopies of these documents are not acceptable as legal proof that the previous marriage has concluded.

The process of filing your intention to wed, and obtaining the license takes a minimum of 45 minutes to complete. As such, we require that you appear at least 45 minutes prior to office closing to ensure adequate time to complete the application process. Please plan accordingly.

The cost of the license is $50.00. PAYMENT ACCEPTED BY CASH OR CHECK.

Your marriage license will be issued the same day you apply and is valid for a period of 90 days for ceremonies taking place within the state of New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Marriage Licenses are not applicable if you are being married in another state or country.
